Wilma was born October 7, 1930, near Anadarko to William C. and Alpha M. (Karnes) Clift. Wilma was one of twelve children. Most of her younger years were spent in the Cement area where she attended school. After high school she worked at Marcum’s Grocery in Cement. Later she moved to Lawton where she met Donald E. Acton who was stationed in the army at Ft. Sill. They were married on September 9, 1951. After her husband received a medical discharge from the army, they moved to New Castle, Indiana to make their home. Wilma worked many years for Western Electric. Later they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, for a few years and eventually settled in Lawton. Wilma had a deep love for music. She could play both a piano and organ and many times, family gatherings at her home resulted in everyone gathered around her at the organ singing old gospel songs. She enjoyed singing specials with her sister and others at the First Assembly of Cement where they attended church.
Although Wilma and Don had no children of their own, they had a host of nieces and nephews who they considered “very special”. Many of these had a special nickname
which Wilma called them. She made summers and Christmas very special for them.
