Zaira Balestrin

     Word has been received of the death of Zaira Balestrin, 86, of Elgin.
     Zaira passed away on Monday, February 22, 2010 in Lawton.
     Arrangements are under the direction of Fletcher Funeral Home, Fletcher, Oklahoma.
     Zaira was born January 23, 1924 in Vicenza, Italy to Mario and Giuseppina (Rabiosa) Balestrin. She married Sergio Azzolin in Italy. After the death of her first husband, Zaira married Lino Poggi in 1984. The couple was married for 21 years when Lino passed away in 2005. She moved from Vicenza, Italy to Elgin, OK in March of 2007 to live with her daughter and son in law. Zaira loved to cook and take care of family.
     She is survived by a daughter, Giovanna Austin and her husband Frank of Elgin; 1 brother, Antonio Balestrin; 3 sisters: Sara Balestrin, GiuLiello Balestrin, and Laura Balestrin; 2 sisters-in-law; Antonietta Balestrin and Maris Balestrin; 3 grandchildren: Richard Stanton, Stella Russo, and Mark Stanton; 9 great grandchildren: Johnna Hayes, Lance Corporal Jordan Stevenson, Jonathan Stanton, Racheal Russo, Mary Ann Russo, Laura Stanton, Caitlan Stanton, and Leno Stanton; and 1 great-great grandchild, Emma Ray Stevenson.
     She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Sergio Azzolin and Lino Poggi; and 1 brother, Angelo Balestin.
