WANDA BAKER, 75, of Paris, Texas passed from this life Tuesday October 11, 2011 at Paris Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Starrett Funeral Home has scheduled funeral services for 10:00 a.m. Saturday October 15, 2011 in the auditorium of Sterling High School, Sterling, Oklahoma, with Rev. Michael Dye officiating. Interment will follow in the Sterling Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 Friday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, Fletcher, Oklahoma.
Wanda was born March 23, 1936 in Comanche County, Oklahoma, the youngest of nine children born to Elmer Ernest and Mary Vera Burns Julian. She was a graduate of Sterling High School, and was retired after thirty-four years of service with the Civil Service Commission, where she was secretary to the Inspector General at Ft. Sill, Okla. More important than her work was her dedication to family and home. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and their friends, and participating in their activities. She was a wonderful cook, and a voracious shopper. Among her greatest loves were her church and her community, where she was always faithful with her service.
She married Edward DeLoren Baker on November 30, 1956 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and a grandson, Stephen Herndon.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two daughters, Kimberly Herndon, of Stillwater, OK and Kristy Rodgers and husband James, of Paris; five grandchildren, Kacey Diaz and husband Mike, Kelsey McLaughlin, Kori McLaughlin, Katherine Rodgers and Jacob Rodgers; a brother, Melvin Julian and a sister, Thelma Henderson, both of Sterling, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
